Turks and Caicos, August 9, 2017 – Providenciales – Police will this week charge a 28 year old man who beat and used a gun to three different drivers to steal their cash and cell phones.   After being given a ride on three different occasions, either due to the kindness of strangers or because he was targeting illegal jitneys who will stop to pick up anyone willing to pay the fare; the man on April 1st, April 17th and then again on April 19th got into these cars, each time with alleged accomplices and allegedly committed armed robbery.

In the first case, the driver was held at gun point in the down town area after picking up two men on Leeward Highway – his cell phone was stolen.    In the second instance, the driver picked up three men on Leeward Highway, those men reportedly beat the driver in the vehicle and took a large sum of cash and a cell phone.  In the third instance, the driver was held by the throat, searched and robbed of cash and cell phone after picking up two men in the Lower Bight.

The 28 year old man will formally face three counts of robbery in court.
