United Kingdom, August 8, 2017 – London – First medal of the IAAF World Championships in London for Team Bahamas was won today in fine fashion by Abaco’s Steven Gardiner.    The 22 year old got the second place and the silver in the event, behind South Africa’s Van Nekerk.

Interestingly, the final of the men’s 400m was run at a slower pace that Gardiner’s winning time in the semis.  Still, Steven will settle for the silver in a job that has The Bahamas beaming.

Earlier in the day, all three women for the 200m from Team Bahamas advanced and will compete next in the semi final round.   Shauna Miller-Uibo was first in her heat; Tynia Gaither was second in her heat and Anthonique Strachan was third in her heat.
