Premier and team attend 38th Regular Meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government

Grenada, July 5, 2017 – Turks & Caicos Islands Premier, Hon. Sharlene Cartwright-Robinson, this week joins other Caribbean leaders for the 38th Regular Meeting of the CARICOM Heads of Government from July 4 – 6, 2017.

Grenada is set to host this Meeting with Grenada’s Prime Minister, Dr. Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell, as chair of the Meeting. Dr. Mitchell, on 1 July 2017, assumed the six-month rotating Chairmanship of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), succeeding the President of Guyana, His Excellency David Granger.

On the Agenda, leaders across the region will discuss a wide range of issues including: Regional Security, future trade relations with the United Kingdom (UK), Post Brexit, Tourism in the Region, building a Caribbean Tourism development and Marketing Initiative, human resource development in the region, Marketing Initiative and regional plan for statistics development among other topics.

Premier, Hon. Cartwright-Robinson commented; “I am delighted to be meeting with my regional counterparts to address issues affecting us and our region generally. This is my first meeting as persons will recall that the Deputy Premier attended earlier this year as Ambassador for the Turks and Caicos Islands. I am sure that there is much to gain from our time together and look forward to this experience.”

The Premier will be accompanied by Mr. Ronlee James, Executive Director in the Office of the Premier and Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson, Protocol Officer within the Office of the Premier.
