Bahamas, July 12th 2017: Expect added security on US bound flights as of Tuesday, July 18th. The Nassau Airport Development Company, NAD, confirmed plans to implement enhanced security measures for all commercial flights to the United States. This means that travelers to the US will have to arrive at least an estimated three hours before departure time. The changes apply more to passengers traveling with electronics larger than a mobile phone whether the device is within their carry on or check-in luggage.

The move comes after US Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly announced last month enhanced security measures for international flights into the US.

Some 104 countries including The Bahamas has been impacted by the new security measures. In its statement, the Nassau Airport Development says it expects the majority of these changes at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) to fall under the purview of the Airport Authority (AA) and the airlines that service US destinations.NAD is also asking passengers to stay connected to the airport and their airlines with social media for important updates.
