Tourism  & Transport to team up against sexual assault of guests

Bahamas, June 14, 2017 – NassauThe Ministries of Tourism and Transport will make big strides to cut down on sexual offenses linked to water sports operations for guests to the country.   The announcement by Tourism came after police opened an investigation into allegations of assault by a jet-ski operator. 

Police report that a male jet-ski operator is in custody assisting with their investigation into an alleged sexual assault of a Canadian woman that occurred on Monday.   According to reports, shortly after 1:30pm, the male jet-ski operator offered the Canadian woman a ride at Cabbage Beach and took her to Athol Island off Paradise Island, where he is alleged to have sexually assaulted her. The male jet-ski operator then returned the woman to Cabbage Beach and the matter was reported to the police. 

The police later took the suspect into custody for questioning. Investigations are ongoing.
