Turks and Caicos, June 6th 2017: Citizens interested in becoming a voluntary firefighter can now join in training sessions on Wednesday evenings at the Fire Services Department.

The invite comes from Fire Chief, Mr. William Carlton Jennings during a visit from Minister with responsibility for the Domestic Fire Services Department, the Honourable, Delroy Williams.

A new Fire Hall is expected to be constructed in Providenciales during this financial year at a cost of $1.6 million dollars.

In commending in advance the many private citizens who will attend the training session, the Minister extended his appreciation and remarked that it shows a level of commitment to society, something he says “as a government would like to encourage”.

Minister Williams underscored the importance of having a cadre of knowledgeable firefighters in the unfortunate event of a fire.

Fire Chief Jennings, who has over thirty years of experience in the field, expressed his delight that the Minister demonstrated his support to the Fire Department in this way.

Partially adorned in firefighting attire, Hon. Williams added that “It was truly a delight for me to join the team of brave young men who understand the important role they play in protecting life and property whenever a fire occurs.”
