Turks and Caicos, June 30, 2017 – Providenciales – Just an hour left now to nominate worthy islanders for the National Honours, as the deadline is 5pm today.   The National Honours and Awards Committee yesterday spoke to media about the program and how it works and who can qualify for the awards.

“National medals and awards are designed to reward Turks and Caicos islanders who have made a big contribution, an extraordinary contribution to the development of the country, to humanity and to the enrichment to the lives of the people.”

Oliver Mills chairs the committee, he was joined for the deadline announcement by Samuel Handfield who reminded that the seven honours are: the Order of National Hero for extra ordinary and outstanding achievement; Order of Turks and Caicos Islands for distinctive service in any field; Patriotic prizes or Cayos and Mouchoir Bank medals; Long Service medal, Meritorious Service Medal and National Young Achievers Medal.

This year would make the third year for the TCI awards program.
