Bahamas to Host Meetings of Fisheries and Aquaculture Ministers from Africa, Caribbean and the Pacific

Bahamas, June 14th, 2017 – Nassau – It’s official, the 5th Meeting of ACP Ministers in Charge of Fisheries and Aquaculture will be held in the Bahamas this year. The new Ministry of Agriculture & Marine Resources recently made the announcement. From September 18 – 22nd 2017, Bahamas will host 40 international delegates who will meet for consensus on policy and strategic options for marine resources, in the development of a five-year action plan for member states.

Magnetic Media understands that the meeting will focus on building resilient and productive marine ecosystems, ensuring effective fisheries management, ensuring sustainable utilization and trade of fisheries products, and promoting investments and innovations in the fisheries sector to improve socio-economic development.

Last Tuesday, Head of Conference Service, Angela Mitchell, representing the African, Caribbean and Pacific group, met with Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Marina Resources, Rena Glinton to discuss the upcoming event. The African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States will partner with the Bahamas in hosting the international meeting.
