Bahamas, June 17, 2017 – Nassau – Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation (BCCEC) opened its 4th annual conclave on Wednesday June 14th 2017, bringing together business representatives from across The Bahamas to discuss issues, challenges and opportunities facing industry.

The theme of the two-day conference was “Ease of Doing Business”, with Prime Minister Hubert Minnis delivering the keynote address, while Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Peter Turnquest closed the conference.   A dynamic two-day event, both the Conclave and AGM were held simultaneously, which included the charter members voting for its Officers and Board Members.

ALIV recently signed a three-year sponsorship partnership with the BCCEC and looks forward to a fruitful relationship.

Chief ALIV Officer, Damian Blackburn said, “The BCCEC provides a vital focus for business in The Bahamas and it is particularly fitting that the first year of our Aliv sponsorship coincides with the 4th annual conclave under the theme of ease of doing business.   Everything we do at Aliv is 100% focused on making it as easy as possible for everyone in The Bahamas to do business – with a range of both consumer and business products and services designed with one objective in mind – satisfying the needs of our customers through two next generation LTE networks, superior business plans and incredible customer service.”

Delivering the opening address at the start of the two-day event, outgoing BCCEC chairman Gowon Bowe praised the event for its ability to bring together the different island chambers of commerce and emphasized the value of a coordinated approach saying:   “New Providence is not The Bahamas, Nassau is not The Bahamas. We have to start thinking about our brothers and sisters.   Collaborative effort is the only way we are going to succeed.”

Blackburn continued, “I would like to congratulate the BCCEC on a wonderful event and extend my congratulations to Mike Maura on his election as BCCEC Chairman and congratulate Leon Williams on his return to the Board of the BCCEC, whom we supported fully in his re-election as the most experienced telecommunications industry professional in The Bahamas.   We look forward to partnering with both, the wider BCCEC Board, in representing the views of the telecommunications sector with balance, transparency and professionalism as we move forward together.”
