Providenciales, TCI May 5, 2017 The TCI Hospital and the TCIG Laboratory Department commemorated Medical Laboratory Professionals Week recently to raise public awareness of the vital role these professionals have in various aspects of health care.

The week was opened with a ceremony at the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre on April 25th where Minister of Health, Honorable Edwin Astwood, who is also a former Laboratory Professional, was the featured speaker.

Astwood lauded on the advancement of the medical technology industry, which has made diagnostic testing easier and more effective for patients with swifter results.

Following the ceremony, more than 150 students from various high schools were given individual group tours of the laboratory sub-departments at TCI Hospital.

Other activities to observe this week included a church service, appreciation dinner and visit to Provo Children’s Home to conduct hand hygiene sessions. These events are part of a larger multi-year, community outreach program planned for public schools by TCI Hospital over the next few weeks.
