The Chief Internal Auditor, CIA has made its recommendations for improvements to the National Health Insurance Board and Health Minister, Edwin Astwood has been told to get the NHIB moving on those recommendations. The directive comes following the Cabinet’s meeting last Thursday.

His Excellency Governor Dr. John Freeman in December 2016, commissioned the CIA to conduct a review of the management of the NHIB in light of a staggering operating shortfall was exposed to the tune of $2 Million.  Since commissioning this review at the beleaguered health Board, HE has sanctioned, along with the Premier, for other Statutory Bodies to be reviewed and for their managers to take responsibility to provide more prudent management and greater accountability.  The National Health Insurance Board now has one week to report back to the Minister on how the recommendations are affecting the already hemorrhaging health care plan.
