Bahamas, May 16, 2017 – NassauBahamas Department of Meteorology chief climatological officer, Neil Armstrong died last Thursday afternoon.   The 30 year employee was severely burned in an explosion on election day morning, beneath the Paradise Island Bridge on Potter’s Cay dock.

Armstrong started at the Department as a trainee in July of 1987 and moved up the ranks with training in meteorology and hydrology in Barbados, where he earned a class two certification and travelled to represent The Bahamas to places like Washington DC and Lima, Peru.

Armstrong was never airlifted to special burn unit treatment at Jackson Memorial, reports are there were challenges with insurance coverage.    It is unclear what caused the death of the accomplished meteorologist, who was 47 years old but he did suffer severe second degree burns over 80% of his body in that fuel truck explosion last week.
