More Haitians captured in Eleuthera

Bahamas, May 18, 2017 – Eleuthera – Over 50 suspected undocumented Haitians were captured in Eleuthera on Wednesday 16th May 2017. Magnetic Media understands that members of the Bahamas Defence Force, the Royal Bahamas Police Force and Immigration authorities carried out a joint exercise and were able to take the suspects into custody.

Official police reports state that shortly after 10am, a Haitian sloop was spotted in the area of Bannerman Town, Eleuthera. A search was conducted and the illegal migrants were all transported to Nassau and handed over to immigration officials for processing.

Just Saturday, 75 Haitian national were apprehended off Cape Eleuthera, and one man said to be a part of the group was found dead.
