Hurricane Preparedness Month Begins

Published

Providenciales, TCI May 2, 2017 Hurricane Preparedness Month (HPM) began today with a State of Preparedness Meeting hosted by the Department of Disaster Management & Emergencies (DDME).

The theme of this year’s HPM is “Are you prepared for the unexpected?” The DDME is encouraging nation-wide preparedness in both the public and private sectors as well as within communities.  The Atlantic Hurricane Season is less than four weeks away and the DDME says research has shown that persons who take concrete steps to prepare for an event are more likely to survive.

Although predictions from the Tropical Meteorology Project at Colorado University show that this season will have a less than average number of events, the DDME has cautioned citizens not to take this information for granted.
