Gun arrests, Defense Force Marine included

Bahamas, May 22, 2017 – NassauFive people are arrested after a string of gun busts over the weekend and among the arrested, is a Defense Force Marine and a woman.    On Friday night, a man and woman were arrested in connection with a find by Police of nearly 1,000 rounds of ammunition at a house off Cowpen Road. 

Police report that the search uncovered 483 rounds of 7.62 ammunition, 234 rounds of .40 ammunition, 203 rounds of 9mm ammunition along with 45 rounds of .380 ammunition.  

In a separate matter, around 11:30pm Saturday a man was arrested outside of a Carmichael Road nightclub when his reportedly suspicious behavior drew Police attention; when officers approached, the man pulled a 9mm pistol with 9 rounds of ammo from his pants and dropped it, it was seized and he was arrested. 

And 7:30pm on Sunday night, a routine patrol on Balfour Avenue and Miami Street led to the search of a Nissan Fuga.    Inside was found and a 9- millimeter Smith and Wesson pistol with 16 rounds of ammunition, and of the two arrested, one was an active member of the Defense Force.
