Delancy Jr cries in court, gets guilty again for manslaughter

Turks and Caicos, May 4, 2017 – ProvidencialesToday a jury determined that 33 year old Colin Delancy Jr is still guilty of the 2011 murder of a barmaid at Sailing Paradise in Blue Hills.

Loud crying in the Supreme Court Wednesday as the retrial of #Colin Delancy Jr. which started before Justice Joan Joyner and a jury on Monday was on this week.   Delancy Jr was charged with manslaughter for killing Dominican, #Santa Suarez Ramirez in the robbery of Sailing Paradise Restaurant in Blue Hills, where Ramirez worked as a barmaid.

On Wednesday, reports are that the accused forced several stops to the trial because Delancy kept interrupting the proceedings with loud crying; he had to be removed from court to regain his composure we are told.

The murder and robbery is from July 20th 2011.   In August 2013, Delancy Jr. was sentenced to 12 years in jail.    The re-trial ended today.   The jury in the retrial found Delancy unanimously guilty and he was sentenced to 12 years; the year on remand was counted towards his sentence.

You can recall Lavardo Smith was found guilty of murder in February of this year for his involvement and sentenced to life. 

Prosecuting was Angela Brooks, Acting DPP and Public Prosecutor, Shetalia Hall.
