ALIV CEO Damian Blackburn presents sponsorship check to BTVI President Dr. Robert Robertson.

Grand Bahama May 9, 2017 – The Bahamas Technical & Vocational Institute (BTVI) has received a $30,000 sponsorship from mobile company ALIV.

The sponsorship is a three-year contract with BTVI making ALIV the school’s official telecommunications sponsor and covering commencement at the New Providence and Grand Bahama campuses. The sponsorship also introduces two new ALIV Outstanding Graduate awards. During a press conference last week, ALIV CEO Damian Blackburn also announced that the company will be opening ALIV mobile experience stores on both BTVI campuses soon.

Blackburn said he hoped the sponsorship would encourage students to continue their education and to find fulfilling careers afterwards. He also noted that BTVI graduates were invited to look for possible openings and graduate trainee programs at ALIV on their website. “We believe in working with the community and have created programs and partnered with organizations directed at areas that will have the most sustainable and positive impact on the country,” said Blackburn.

BTVI President Dr. Robert Robertson also gave remarks before the contract signing. Robertson said the school was excited about the new initiative and thanked ALIV for the sponsorship. Blackburn presented Robertson with the first installment of $10,000, which will go towards to the awards and 2017 commencement ceremonies.
