Nassau, Bahamas May 5, 2017 – Hundreds attended the Atlantic Medical Insurance Limited Fun Run Walk recently which was held simultaneously in Nassau and Freeport.

The Fun Run Walk is in its 19th year and has raised more than $450,000 for the non-profit organizations The Bahamas Cancer Society and the Bahamas Diabetic Association (BDA). The Fun Run Walk is one of many Atlantic Medical initiatives to promote healthy lifestyles, particularly among youth. This year also marked the first year that local schools participated. Students from three junior high schools competed in the walk with T.A. Thompson Junior High winning.

BDAs Director General, Eugene Thurston expressed gratitude to Atlantic Medical for their corporate sponsorship. “Because of them, we have been instrumental in doing a number of things in terms of our preventative programme, our shut-in programme for the elderly, our foot programme, our summer youth camp and our on-going training locally, regionally and internationally,” said Thurston.
