Turks and Caicos, April 27, 2017 – Providenciales – For the first time in history, the National Hurricane Center touches down in the Turks and Caicos as a part of a hurricane awareness tour and their host is the country’s Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies.
The US Air Force is a part of the tour and has brought its Hurricane Hunter Aircraft. The historic happening begins on the runway of the Providenciales International Airport with remarks and viewing of the aircraft by officials and media. The CHAT or Caribbean Hurricane Awareness Tour will also feature, Dr. Rick Knabb of NOAA and move into the schools later.
