Turks and Caicos, April 5, 2016 – Providenciales – The Turks and Caicos Islands Softball Federation will join the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), and sporting organizations around the world in celebrating the “International Day of Sport for Development and Peace” this April 6. This will mark the first year the WBSC and its member countries will observe the Sports peace day and the transformative power that sport has to positively change lives and bridge social gaps.

The Turks and Caicos Islands Softball Federation through its church league will play two very exciting games at the National Stadium on April 6 at 6:30pm, and immediately following the first game will hold a brief ceremony.

The ceremony will include brief remarks from the TCISF president and executives. It will also see pictures taken of the crowd and all players around the league holding up white cards to commemorate the day. The Federation will post pictures taken with white cards to social media with the hashtag #whitecard to show the TCI’s support of the initiative.

The white card is symbolic and represents a contradiction to the red card, which signifies the most serious offense that a sports player can commit. The colour white symbolizes instead purity and peace, and is therefore used to represent positivity and constructiveness in sport.

The TCISF is encouraging both the general public and the media to support this historic event geared towards promoting peace and sportsmanship.
