Turks and Caicos, April 19, 2017 – Providenciales – The Leader of Opposition (LOO) business in the House of Assembly is calling for the eradication of Shanty Towns, citing that the sub-standard housing threatens the health of the tourism sector.   Hon Washington Misick, as PNP leader in Parliament gave rebuttal to the Budget presentation delivered yesterday morning by Premier Sharlene Robinson.

With unlimited time to comment on every facet of the fiscal plan of the PDM Administration, Misick spoke for hours and among his concerns was that the Appropriations Bill 2017-2018 aka the Budget, needed to make getting rid of shanties a priority.   The former Finance Minister under the Rufus Ewing Administration said the potential for disease to be spread from these communities, which are also the homes of many of the hospitality sector workers, is not only probable but would serve a crippling blow to the Tourism sector.

Misick, among other things accused the PDM Government of failing to acknowledge PNP strides while in power and charged the new administration with flip flopping on issues.
