Omar Archer’s case still before court

Bahamas, April 27, 2017 – Nassau – Omar Archer may be a free man, continuing his voluntary, bold and verbal campaign for the Free National Movement (FNM) on the brink of the next general election, however his days before court are not entirely over. Mr. Archer took to social media yet again, “They are hiding the fact that we will be able to show how they dugskully around the judicial system and circumvented justice in this case, just to try to send me to jail. That is how serious and how dangerous this government is,” he stated. “They literally take advantage and literally violate your constitutional rights, they strip you of your civil liberties and they do this blatantly and you have magistrates who are literally assisting them in this process which is illegal.” As a result Archer pleaded in his latest video, “I’m now calling on Derence Rolle to order the stenographer to provide myself and my attorneys with the transcript so we could present a decent defense in the Supreme Court.”

Archer, who had been convicted of posing threats of harm to an assistant commissioner of police, got time served but is now appealing the conviction so that there would be no criminal charges on his record. The case has been adjourned to May 8th 2017 where Archer’s lawyers would be able to present a defense. However, he has stated that his lawyer Fred Smith, QC has been requesting the court’s transcript for the past two weeks but to no avail. Archer believes that this is a conspiracy and the lack of transcript is a bid to stop his lawyers from presenting a fair trail.

Archer went on to explain, “If they provide the transcript it will show where that Magistrate literally acted on instructions.” He continued, “and it will show there was no grounds for conviction at all.”

The whistleblower was released on $9,000 bail earlier this month and continues to exercise his freedom of speech on his favorite topic, politics.
