Bahamas, April 25, 2017 – Nassau – Three men were reported lost at sea and so far one has been rescued in a joint operation between the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and the US Coast Guard.   Jamaal Bowe left Rose Island for Nassau on Saturday when his jet-ski experienced engine trouble and left him drifting.   Bowe, who was rescued around 5pm yesterday was able to call police on his cell phone, described that he was on an island with a red and white light house and that activated the Defence Force.

It was explained in a Defence Force media release that, “a patrol aircraft, piloted by Lt. Marcellinus Rolle, was deployed.   Mr. Bowe was later spotted by the aircraft at around 1p.m.”   Jamaal Bowe had drifted to Sandy Point, Abaco and the US Coast Guard conducted a helicopter rescue of the man.

Two more are still missing.   The pair left McClean’s Town, Grand Bahama in a small boat since Friday.    The Defence Force has so far conducted an air search for two Bahamians and is teamed up with the Police Marine, BASRA personnel, local volunteers and the United States Coast Guard in the search using vessels and aircraft.
