Bahamas, April 28th 2017: The Tenders Board of the Ministry of Finance opened up the bidding process for a new Management company charged with the oversight of the landfill.

Deadline for applicants was Wednesday, with interested investors required to pay a non refundable fee of $10,000, while a non disclosure agreement form is needed at the registration process.

This comes weeks after the landfill continues to burn, and government took the situation by the horns to bring an attempt at remediation through new operations at the land fill, with its launch for Request for Proposals (RFPs) earlier this month.

Government is said to be looking for new technology in the management of the landfill, including a membrane landfill liner that will generate solar energy, gas extraction technology and a recycling facility for new materials.

Following the fires which started in March, Prime Minister Perry Christie announced plans to engage with a new waste management firm.
