Turks and Caicos, March 6, 2017 – Providenciales – A Team hired by the UK is in country now to conduct an assessment of our internal and national security problems.  Both the Premier and the Opposition Leader has met with the group.  “It’s role is to assess what assistance we may need, and to make recommendations to the UK.  We are optimistic that more assistance will be forthcoming, but until then we must do what we can, and we must do what we can to assist by providing the necessary resources at our disposal.” – Hon. Premier Robinson.

“That the UK government would look at the Turks and Caicos as a special case, given the fact that our geographical location places us in a region where we have got unstable politics and unstable economy and poverty has always been an incentive to commit crime.”  Leader of Opposition W. Misick

The assessment was promised by Dr. John Freeman, Governor of the Territory and it is hoped that their work will be swift and offer ideas which can be supported by the new budget.
