TCI Minister Williams exposed to mobile advancements at global conference

Turks and Caicos, March 16, 2017 – Providenciales – When Governments of the world convened in Barcelona, Spain late last month to talk about the future of mobile technology, the Turks and Caicos was there.

Home Affairs Minister, Delroy Williams led a team to the World Mobile Congress Ministerial Programme, which is in its 12th year and featured dozens of speakers on a wide range of topics.  On day one, the focus was on mobile being an important driver in economic development and wealth creation, but it challenged governments to consider what policies need to be in place to promote innovation, competition and security for consumers in this digital age.

There were also sessions on mobile money and social transformation, enabling smart communities and building the 5G economy.   Minister Williams was accompanied by Head of Secretariat, Karen Higgs; Kenva Williams, Director of Technology and Russell Gardiner, Engineer from the Telecommunications Commission.
