Rush to exhaust TCI Budget says Minister

Turks and Caicos, March 20, 2017 – Providenciales – A rush to spend allocated funds on some road improvements is the reason crews were seen working all around Providenciales over the weekend.   Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Planning, Goldray Ewing confirms that the work along the roadways where bushes are being dramatically trimmed back is an accelerated push by the ministry to get done what the budget had earmarked to be done before the end of the fiscal year.

Magnetic Media heard similar comments in recent interviews from the Premier and Finance Minister Sharlene Robinson and Health Minister, Edwin Astwood.

Minster Astwood spoke candidly about funds just sitting and waiting to be used and the new Administration’s work to see the budgeted funds spent on the many worthwhile and necessary projects.   “Since we came into office, we have seen that a number of things that were supposed to be done haven’t been done, and we are committed to getting everything that we can done in the time allotted to it.  Everything is time sensitive and we want to make sure that resources meet the necessary departments, individuals or organizations in the time which it can be most effective because we have to look out for our people and our communities, and that is what we are dedicated to do.   And of course you know that if you do not use it, you lose it.”
