Bahamas, March 6, 2017 – Nassau – It could be as long as a week before residents of Jubilee Gardens can return home according to reports; five to seven days before life as usual for the community turned upside down by a raging inferno which has swallowed up an untold number of homes and left a government housing project in smoke and ashes.

The news came today at a press conference held by Environment Minister, Kenred Dorsett.   A mandatory evacuation order by NEMA drove unwilling residents out of their homes, but to safety and Minister of Social Development, Melanie Griffin said fifty residents of Jubilee are housed at the Kendal GL Isaacs Gym shelter, 20 are children.   The evacuation order remains in effect due to the thick smoke still polluting the area.  That fire broke out since around 1pm on Sunday.
