Turks and Caicos, March 6, 2017 – Providenciales – Putting political differences aside, the PDM Government locked arms this morning with the PNP Opposition party in a press conference to announce that they are united against crime. “We are here to say that it must stop, and we should spare no effort in ensuring that all the resources available to this country will be put behind preventing crime because if it is to continue, it is to continue, it is a threat to the economy and to our way of life.” – W. Misick
“This act today we hope will demonstrate to our people that crime is not political, and that together we must stand in this fight. It is an important first step.” – Hon. Premier Robinson
Premier Sharlene Robinson and Leader of the Opposition, Washington Misick jointly commended Police for recent swift work, called on the Community to use the tip hotline and to better support investigations; encouraged residents to secure themselves and advised that today was just the beginning of work to help in curbing crime. “We need to look at exactly what is missing, what we need to do to ensure young men in particular, do not lose their way.” – W. Misick
“We have to remember sometimes persons believe that we’re just looking for money, it could be skills, it could be personnel, it could be boots on the ground, whatever support, we appreciate the assistance. It isn’t that we’re begging or such for assistance, it is their constitutional responsibility, and we’re asking them to just simply step up to the plate and respond, because as the Leader of the Opposition has said, we are unique. – Hon. Premier Robinson
