Turks and Caicos, March 31, 2017 – Grand Turk – Police have not arrested anyone but there are two possible suspects for that fire to the ceiling, allegedly set at the Grand Turk prison around 8 last night.  In a report from TCIG’s Prison Service and from the Police we learn that the fire happened in the Yellow Wing, which at the time had 15 prisoners housed there.

Two prisoners were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure, but no one was hurt in the blaze which was extinguished by Prison guards.  It was a 911 call that brought police to the scene where they did see smoke and report that a ceiling rafter was burned.

The Prison Superintendent is still conducting inquiries to determine what happened and if anyone will be charged.   Police say an investigation has been launched.
