Bahamas, March 28, 2017 – Nassau – Riot Tactics, Civil Disturbance and Operational Planning is now better understood and prepared for because 40 Royal Bahamas Defense Force marines are done with an advanced combat shooting course.

For three weeks the marines were taken through a program to enhance the weaponry and tactical skill level of the men and women in collaboration with the Marine Forces North (MARFORNORTH) of the United States Marine Corps with the coordination of the Defence Force Commando Squadron Department.

The class was exposed to Advanced Shooting, Riot Control Drills and Introduction to Close Quarter Battle and a number of branches of the Defense Force got this invaluable exposure namely the  Commando Squadron, Administration, Headquarters, Military Police & Force Protection, Harbour Patrol Unit, Port Security and the Squadron Departments.

The near month long exposure ended with a brief but befitting graduation ceremony, where congratulatory remarks and well wishes were received from Lieutenant General, Rex McMillian and the Commander of Marine Forces North.

Captain Clyde Sawyer, also congratulated the award recipients for their exemplary performance and extended gratitude to the United States Embassy for allowing their Military branches to provide stellar training to members of the Defence Force.  The Defense Force says the effort is all to ensure a ‘safer Bahamas.’
