Freeport, Bahamas, February 8, 2017 – Western Air explains that it was not a crash landing that their flight experienced yesterday while en route from Freeport to Nassau.   Media reports say the pilot noticed something wrong and radioed to air traffic control to return to the Grand Bahama International Airport. It was described as an electrical problem; while the plane made a safe return landing, it was said that during the taxing of the aircraft on the runway that the left gear malfunctioned, sending flight 708 into bushes aside the tarmac.

No one was injured but the passengers were shaken up.  “I was on the plane, we came from Bimini to Freeport and when we take from Freeport, we had to land back, we had an emergency landing and through us landing we end up through the bush.  So now we’re on the runway waiting for a ride to come, and fuel is leaking out the plane and everything.”
