Tourism Minister tours heritage sites, backs Nat’l Trust plans

North Caicos, TCI, February 21, 2017 – Conservation and preservation of heritage sites are to get special attention promised new Tourism Minister, Ralph Higgs after touring historical, cultural areas managed and maintained by the Turks and Caicos National Trust.

At least eight sites in North Caicos, Middle Caicos and Providenciales were toured by the Minister and a contingent, led by the TCI National Trust.   A media release shared that Minister Higgs found the sites impressive.

Visited were: Little Water Cay, more popularly known as “Iguana Island”, Bird Rock Point, Cheshire Hall Plantation Historic Site, Wade’s Green Plantation in North Caicos, the Conch Bar Caves in Middle Caicos and more including the Government Farm and the Caicos Pine Tree project.

Minister Higgs has vowed to support the tourism program set forth by the Trust and expressed that the new government will assist with any preservation and conservation efforts that will be carried out for the benefit of the TCI populace and its environment.   This year the Turks and Caicos National Trust marks 25 years of existence.
