Providenciales, TCI, February 6, 2017 – Galmo Williams, the former Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands and a leading TCI businessman was shot by a trio of assailants last night and is now recuperating from a gunshot wound to the left leg.  Unbelievably, it seems the shooting was completely unprovoked by the former Parliamentarian.

Police just before 8am released information on the armed robbery which happened as 56 year old Williams was on his way to Ricky’s Flamingo Cafe on the Beach, around 10:56pm Sunday not at the Provo Golf Club.   Police do not identify the former Premier in their report but they do say the man cooperated with the trio of masked men and gave them what they asked him for… after he did, they still shot ‘Gilley’ as he is affectionately called in the leg.

Despite reports that a suspect was shot, Police say that is not true and also explain that they do not have anyone in custody for the shooting.   Williams, who also served in an advisory role to the Governor is being treated at the Cheshire Hall Medical, where police found him and is reportedly in good spirits and good condition.
