Surge in voter registration

Bahamas, February 21, 2017 – At the rate eligible Bahamas are registering now, the country should have around 172,000 voters by May.   Bahamians are heading out to the voter registration centers now and the Parliamentary registration department happily reports that they are processing 700 to 800 people per day. 

The constituency of Killarney has the most people registered at this time at about 4,500 people and South Beach is recorded with the lowest, just under 3,000 people registered.   It was revealed that as of Saturday, 112,622 people are now registered.   The last general election had 172,000 people on the voter’s list.
