Providenciales, TCI, February 6, 2017 – More should be done to curb crime and one resident we spoke to today is calling for reinforcement from outside of the country; Edith Skippings said to bring in The Bahamas. “They don’t know the local people here, so they need not have any favoritism or be afraid to approach people or homes and look for these thieves here in the Turks and Caicos Islands. We really need to get to the bottom of this.”
While a tender is out for CCTV to come for the down town area, there are several initiatives the public believes ought to happen including random raids of houses where illegal firearms may be kept and where they may be on sale for as low as a few hundred dollars.
Skippings said the situation is way out of control. “To put this situation under control, and show the people that are causing all this crime and sadness here in the Turks and Caicos that we mean business.”
