Providenciales, TCI, February 10, 2017 – In the Supreme Court on Wednesday 8th February 2017, 28 year old Jacques Dazilme of Providenciales was sentenced to a 3 years suspended sentenced after he pleaded guilty to Uttering Forged Document and ordered to pay a fine for Obtaining Pecuniary Advantage by Deception.
Mr. Dazilme is the employee of a hotel on the island of Providenciales where he was working for quite some time. Between November 2015 and October 2016 he presented a total of three sick leave notification to the resort which bears signatures resembling that of two well-known Medical Practitioners and logo of their Medical company on island. Each sick notes he was given a three (3) day sick leave.
On November 15th 2015, a leave request form was submitted to the company by Dazilme and as a result, he was paid $137.50 (one hundred and thirty-seven dollars and fifty cents). On October 20th, 2016 as a result of another leave request, management of the resort noticed a difference with the Medical Practitioners’ signature whom they are familiar with. Upon making further queries, the Practitioners confirmed that the signatures where not theirs and that the logo on the sick notes are not consistent with their company. A report was made and the police commenced investigations into the matter.
Dazilme was arrested and later charged with the offences mentioned. During an interview with officers, he admitted to committing the offence and told them that he is wrong. A report was submitted to the Department of Public Prosecutions Office. He was also ordered to pay the sum of $137.50 to the company in seven days.
