Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, February 16th, 2017 – Business support organizations (BSOs) from across the Turks & Caicos, such as the Red Cross, the Chamber of Commerce and the TCI Football Association (TCIFA), recently received training to enhance their skills and knowledge in the design and implementation of business development activities.

Also noteworthy was the participation of the District Commissioners from each of the islands. This was crucial, as they play a very strategic role in giving support to micro, small and medium size enterprises (MSMEs) within their various communities.

The ‘Managing for Development Results (MfDR)’ workshop was hosted by Invest Turks & Caicos as part of its continuing efforts to support the development and growth of MSMEs in the Turks & Caicos.

The workshop focused on:

Equipping participants with knowledge and understanding of key MfDR tools based on international practice;

• Outlining a common approach to MfDR;

• Providing participants with tools and methodologies to measure, monitor and report results in a gender-sensitive way;

• Assisting participants in designing an appropriate results monitoring framework to facilitate the monitoring and reporting of results in relation to its programme of activities; and

• Equipping participants with knowledge and skills to facilitate a “trickle-down” of their learning to other development partners, via facilitated workshop sessions.

Shemeka Outten, of the Junior Achievement Programme, one of the workshop participants expressed that: “This was one of the most informative workshops that I’ve ever attended. The tools and knowledge that Mrs. Musgrove passed on to us will definitely go a long way in helping us with planning and development.”

“This workshop is just a small part of our continuing effort to support the development of MSMEs in the TCI, and is the result of training from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB). We’re especially proud that organizations from all islands were represented at the workshop and could benefit from this training,” said Angela Musgrove, SVP Investor Services, Invest Turks & Caicos.
