Providenciales, TCI, February 8, 2017 – Police have a man in custody for allegedly chopping an off duty Immigration officer in the head with a piece of wood.   The two year officer is believed to be on his way home around 5pm Tuesday, when he got into some sort of confrontation with a group of Haitian men.  One of the men, who is married to a Turks and Caicos Islander is fingered as the one who struck Norad Coalbrooke leaving a gaping gash on his head and face; he had to be stitched up at the hospital.

While one person did run off, the main suspect remained on the scene and was taken in by Police in the incident, we are told.  It is reported that the Haitian men were in a conversation in Creole which was questioned by Officer Coalbrooke; it was following questioning about the conversation which they thought Officer Coalbrooke could not understand, that the alleged attack happened.

It is believed the wood, used as a weapon had some sort of metal on it; one account to us is that Officer Coalbrooke’s head was ‘cut right open.’
