Providenciales, TCI, February 1, 2017All but five illegal immigrants who tried to enter the TCI on Monday by boat are returned home now; repatriated on eight charter flights to Haiti.  The five being held, all women Magnetic Media is told may be charged in connection to the one of those interceptions.  There were 178 Haitians who had to be processed, including two juveniles.

The Haitians were interviewed and it was asked of them if they had heard of the dangers of trying to enter the Turks and Caicos Illegally, if they understood the risks they took on those overcrowded sloops.  The reply was ‘yes!’

Some even say they had heard of the boat which capsized last week Tuesday killing so many, for sure 15 died, likely drowned and their bodies were recovered from waters in NW Providenciales.  There were 69 people on that boat.  The people fleeing Haiti say that things are so bad in their home country, it is worth the chance if they can get here for a better life.

Border Control and Police are still in want of information of those who made it to shore last week, on January 24th, evading capture.
