Providenciales, TCI, February 24, 2017 – Job losses are coming for Digicel Turks and Caicos as the company prepares for a global downsizing which is raising concern and grabbing headlines within the region; 25% of the staff around the world will be let go.

While it is unclear exactly who will be cut, Digicel does say there will be a greater amalgamation of the company where resources for some departments are shared.  “Our future market structure will comprise a small number of regional hubs – two for the Caribbean and Central America regions and two for the Pacific region – housing back office centralized functions and delivering shared services.”

Digicel announced that yes, this means a staff reduction in 31 of their markets and the slimmed down team will be focused on sales, service, resources and investment.  Digicel in a media reply to a question on how the global staff cut will affect the TCI, said they are not giving market specifics at this time but did explain the cuts will happen over 18 months, will amount to 25% of staff gone and Digicel promises to offer what they call, enhanced voluntary separation programmes.

Those offers for staff to choose to exit the company begin next week Wednesday, which is March 1st.
