Providenciales, TCI, February 14, 2017 – It is Valentine’s Day still and the Ministry of Health and Human Services has been busy today with mobile testing for HIV Aids and handing out free condoms across the country.  Aldora Robinson, Health Promotions and Advocacy Unit Director said it is National Condom Month and that the focus is getting sexually active people to take charge of their sexual health and to be true to themselves.

Condoms have a record of being 98-99% safe when used consistently and correctly and Mrs. Robinson explained that ensuring the latex condoms are available and accessible is a key strategy.  The country has one of the most outstanding records in the region for its handling on HIV/Aids and Minster of Health, Edwin Astwood added that knowledge is also powerful and so testing is critical.

“Testing is one of our priority strategic objectives to ensure that persons living within the TCI know their status.”  The mobile unit goes out annually and has a simple message for the sexually active, to Romance with Caution.” Condoms are now also touted to help in the preventing the spread of the Zika virus.
