Providenciales, TCI, February 22, 2017 – Residents tired of the crime are increasingly taking matters into their own hands; the latest report of an arrest of a known robber came last night and it was caught on camera.

A Popular lounge owner was robbed, had video surveillance which clearly showed the face of that culprit as he unwittingly looked directly into the camera and revealed to the owner a face, he recognized.   After calling the police, according to the cell phone video, and waiting an hour, he says, that businessman decided to go and get the man on the video himself.

Colin Williams, better known as Jimbalaya is seen manhandling the alleged suspect, trying to tie him to a steel bar door and eventually turning the man over to two police officers.  Photos of what his security cameras caught are in circulation; and it does appear to be the exact same man from the security footage in that cell phone video in the citizens’ arrest.   It was a relatively smooth arrest by Jimbalaya at his Kew Town bar; Police took over and led the man away in handcuffs.

Residents are hoping that charges can stick and this suspect, once found guilty can be locked away and off the streets.  Reports are that crime has decreased in the TCI, but brazen home invasions and armed attacks appear to be more frequent and certainly are more violent.

Police confirmed late today that they still have that man caught by Jimbalaya in custody.
