Nassau, Bahamas, February 14, 2017 – In consumer news: Mobile Business Portability was due to come on stream today but it is delayed because the Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority of The Bahamas or URCA has determined that none of the companies – BTC or Aliv – are ready to competently offer it to the market.   The feature, MBP, allows mobile phone users to change service providers without having to change their phone numbers.

An URCA assessment uncovered the unreadiness of the two, and right now it is back to the drawing board on an alternate launch date for the service.   URCA says it will be done in consultation with both BTC and Aliv and is tentatively set for next month, March.
