282 Youngsters in first FortisTCI Youth Football league

Providenciales, TCI, February 14, 2017The coming of a Youth League for football was historically announced last week by the Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association and their partner in the effort, FortisTCI.  In fact the league, which is the first for the TCIFA is to be called the FortisTCI Youth League and it begins on March 4, 2017. 

At the announcement of the major venture and investment in sports development and our youth, FortisTCI President, Eddinton Powell said:  “The Company is pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with the TCIFA on what will undoubtedly be an experience of a lifetime for these young and talented football players.  Organized sports do far more than provide a positive outlet for our youth.  Well run organizations such as the TCIFA, and others that we sponsor promotes the development of young people in a particular area and provides life skills that will be useful once these children become young adults and enter society on their own.” 
 
And the support will undergird 22 teams; eight boys and eight girls teams for U11 and U9 and U13 six co-ed teams for the children who are all under 13 years themselves and number 282. 
 
President of the TCIFA, Sonia Bien-Aime was beaming at the merger.  “We recognize that the growth and development of football in TCI has its genesis in our grassroots and youth programs. It is on this infrastructure that we build towards our national teams, and as such, we eagerly embrace this sponsorship by one of the leaders in our corporate community.” 
 
Before the first match, FortisTCI and the TCIFA say there will be a parade of the youngsters in uniform at an opening ceremony where the coaches, teams and players will be formally introduced to the country.  
 
Once the matches begin, the 22 teams will be competing for the coveted FortisTCI Cup
