Winter Storm stealing sand, beach erosion on famous strip

Providenciales, TCI, January 10, 2017 – Beach erosion in the midst of this winter storm gone south and one resident sent us troubling images of Coral Beach which is one of the most popular beaches in Providenciales. The proximity of a lovely coral reef, just steps off of the shoreline is a major attraction in the spot and now almost a foot of the sand is gone.

The winter storm today kept us with overcast skies, and there was a rip current warning again today and beach-goers were asked to remain out of the water due to the dangerous conditions. The warning was reissued late today by the Bahamas Department of Meteorology which also advised that this weather is with us for the rest of the week.
