Seven weeks to Bight Results General Election petition

Providenciales, TCI, January 13, 2017 –  It will take months, at least two more months to know if PDM Candidate, George Pratt has strong enough evidence to truly challenge the election results of the Bight Constituency.

Pratt, represented by Alvin Garland of Garland & Co was heard by Chief Justice, Margaret Ramsay-Hale in the matter which challenges some steps during the December 15 General Election in Electoral District six and how the outcome was determined.

Ramsay-Hale has given dates for all skeleton arguments to be completed, that is February 7, 2017 and the actual hearing is set for March 6, 2017; which is some seven weeks away.  The decision on dates was swift in the packed court room; the Chief Justice believes the popularity of the case will require a larger court space.

Ariel Misick of Misick and Stanbrook represents Porsha Smith, the Member of Parliament for the district who legally but controversially won the seat when her name was drawn first from a bag, because she and Pratt were tied with 284 votes.

Attorney General, Rhondalee Knowles represents the Elections Office in the petition.
