Providenciales, TCI, January 10, 2017 – The election results for Electoral District six, more famously known as The Bight will be challenged in court and the case filed by PDM Candidate, George Pratt will make its judicial debut this Thursday.   It is the first official challenge from the December 15, 2016 General Elections and the Elections Office Supervisor, Dudley Lewis confirmed that he did receive the petition and the matter will be heard to determine if the claim is justifiable and fit for a trial.

George Pratt told Magnetic Media that his side plans to demonstrate that the Elections Office, allegedly moved three names onto the voter list which had not gone through the Claims and Objections process.   Pratt also says he has questions about how ballots were handled after voting; he recalled to us one suspect instance where allegedly, a poll worker was still holding onto what should have been a discarded ballot paper.

The George Pratt legal team will also aim to demonstrate that a constituency should not be won by casting lots or pulling names from a bag; though this is on the books as legally the way election ties would be handled in the Turks and Caicos.

Magnetic Media reached out to Member of Parliament for the constituency, Hon Porsha Smith who held onto the district after her name was drawn first from a bag when she and Pratt were deadlocked in a tie; Hon Smith said she has no comment.
