Minister of Education, Youth Sports and Library Services visits schools and departments under her portfolio

Providenciales, TCI, January 12, 2017 –  In her new office as Minister for Education, Youth, Sports and Library Services, the Hon. Josephine Connolly made her maiden visit to the primary schools, Sporting Complex, Youth Department and Library in Providenciales on Monday, January 9, as part of her visits to departments under her portfolio.

She was welcomed by the jubilant staff of the various primary schools and other departments who discussed their issues and challenges with her and her management team of the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Library Services. Hon. Connolly gave assurance to the principals, staff and Head of Departments that it is her goal to ensure that all schools and departments have the necessary support and resources to enhance teaching, learning and efficiency.

As part of her commitment to strengthen the lines of communication between the ministry and its departments, the Minister addressed the students and staff of the schools.  She visited classrooms and chatted with the excited students who were eager to meet her.  Hon. Connolly reminded her team; “If we have to build a viable and sustainable education system, we have to ensure that the foundation is solid.”

The Minister went on to say; “This is the reason why my government will continue to invest in the training of early childhood and special needs education teachers and also to promote the development of education professionals.”

Through spiritual growth, personal development and professionalism, the Ministry is committed to serve and seek to achieve greater accomplishments in the near future. The Ministry aims to make a difference in the lives of those we serve and to whom we work with, to improve their performance in the standard of Education.

The Minister said that this visit was an energizing start to her journey in education, youth, sports and library services and is reminded of the phrase “It takes a village to raise a child” and stated that she is looking forward to meeting many more educators, students and other partners that are part of this vibrant village.
