Providenciales, TCI, January 19, 2017 – A 25-year-old female of Providenciales had charge of Inflicting Grievous Bodily Harm withdrawn after the victim told the court that the police and the doctor fabricated the results of his injuries and forced him to give a statement.
Around 1:30 pm on Wednesday 10th August 2016, police and medical services responded to the Leeward Palms area after a report was made that a 31-year-old male had hot oil thrown on his body. While on a scene, the victim who received 1st degree burns to his head, arm and torso told officers that his girlfriend, the accused threw it on him. As a result, an investigation was launched. He was taken to court where he was deemed in critical condition.
As a result of inquiries, police later arrested and charged the 25-year-old with the offence mentioned. Inflicting Grievous Harm carries five years imprisonment.
